Langbrook Estate Cottages

The farm at Langbrook Estate covers over 250 hectares and is one of the largest working farms in the pristine Upper Yarra Valley, growing fruit for our premium Wild Cattle Creek Wines and running our Charolais and Red Angus cattle herds.

Langbrook Estate is the home of Kalinka Charolais and produces award winning beef for export. The farm is bounded by native forests on most sides and has magnificent views to the north and eastern ranges. Lush rolling paddocks, crisp clear mornings and a night sky like you could never see in the city.

Many of our guests love to grab a handful of hay and head off to the paddocks to feed the bovine family. A 3 kilometre trail leads through the farm and takes in the rolling hills and picturesque valley scene.

A camp fire of an evening can also be arranged, and camp outs on the property provide the ultimate Yarra Valley experiential escape (BYO camping gear.)

For those that prefer creature comforts, a BBQ by the pool while the kids enjoy the play area is a great alternative.

For the sporty minded, grab a racquet and hit the tennis court and cool off with a swim afterwards.

Langbrook is a farm with lots to do, or a retreat for doing nothing but just relaxing.

We have free fast WiFi access from accommodation areas at Langbrook Estate.

Kalinka Charolais Cattle

Kalinka Charolais was established in around 1980, with the purchase of females from Mr Jim Whalen, of Pine Grove Charolais, Pylong, Victoria. He was one of the first Charolais Breeders in Australia. These females were by Apollon, Clovis, Aga Khan, Carabinier, Cadet Roussel, Excaliber and others.

An early bull purchase was Glenfields Honkey Tonk (by Pinegrove Doogara), Junior and Grand Champion Charolais Bull at Melbourne Royal Show. Honkey Tonk left some wonderful females and over the years females and bulls have been purchased from leading studs to compliment our bloodlines. We have enjoyed considerable show success and bred several Melbourne Royal Show champions over the last 20 years, culminating in the breeding of Kalinka Warren, who was awarded the All Breeds Champion Bull at Melbourne Royal Show in 2003. Warren is still in use and is by Airlie Quagmire, purchased at Sydney Royal Show some years ago. Warren has tremendous Genestar figures; Marbling 5, Tenderness 5, Feed Efficiency 7. Warren sired the 2007 Melbourne Royal Grand Champion Bull Kalinka Arizona, a magnificent Red Factor Polled Bull.

We also run a herd of Red Angus and Charolais cross Commercial females and have enjoyed much success in carcass competitions.

Our pure Charolais female Commercial and Stud Herd numbers around 100 breeders. We use artificial insemination and have an ongoing embryo programme using the very best genetics.

Our cattle are extremely quiet and easy to handle. Their finishing ability is a priority , so softness is essential. We are MN3 and Breedplan members and always have females and bulls for sale.
